Reinhardt (1910–1953), a manouche (gypsy) born in Belgium but who spent most of his life France, is recognized as a pioneer of jazz guitar. He played with and was admired by all the greats, especially violinist Stéphane Grappelli, who featured him in his quintet.
Jazz guitarist Frédéric Belinsky and his band are putting on an hommage to Django’s music at Saint-Julien le Pauvre, the oldest church in Paris (in the heart of the Latin Quarter, near Notre Dame). They will perform such classics as Nuages, Minor Swing, Blues en mineur, Les Yeux noirs.
